![]() When the computer is started without the Windows 8 disk in the drive then there is no cd/dvd drive. ![]() Also when I restore to any of the images I have saved the cd/dvd drive is ok. This tells me that the cd/dvd drive is ok and the driver is also ok. If I put the Windows 8 disk in the drive and start the computer then the cd/dvd drive is shown in both the device manager and disk management. I also know how to dual boot and do a virtual disk install but choose not to do either of those. I can restore to any of those configurations in about 5 minutes. I use Acronis True image to make backups of different configurations (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 (32-bit) and (64-bit) all stored on my D drive. Intel i5-750 cpu and Asus Motherboard and graphic card and 4gb memory. ![]() I have dual hard drives: A 60gb OCZ SSD for the C drive and 750gb Western Digital for the D drive. I did a clean install of Windows 8 (32-Bit) and everything works just fine except for the fact that the cd/dvd drive is not shown in device manager or disk management. Windows 8 does not recognize my cd/dvd drive.
